Auburn Sigurdson

Director, brand & strategy

As a retired athlete, Auburn brings to the TORQUE Strategies team a complementary mix of brains and brawn (and a mean screw ball). She also brings over 15 years of experience in marketing and communications. Through her tenure with TORQUE Strategies, she has worked with many of Canada’s most loved brands and properties including CIBC, TELUS, Live Nation, Hockey Canada, HSBC Canada Sevens, and the upcoming espnW Summit Vancouver. Prior to TQ, she served as an Associate Partner with the TwentyTen Group (now TTG Partnerships), Auburn led client accounts including Whistler Blackcomb and Corus Entertainment and managed the firm’s marketing and communications.

Prior to TTG, Auburn served as the Manager of Communications and Community Engagement at the Canadian Sport Institute, where she led the strategy development and implementation for three central campuses and five regional centres in support of Olympians, Paralympians, and hopefuls living and training in British Columbia.

Born and bred in BC, Auburn earned her degree in communications and publishing at Simon Fraser University – she also studied graphic design, creative process and advertising at Emily Carr University and British Columbia Institute of Technology. While at SFU, Auburn competed as a pitcher for the school’s varsity women’s softball team, and for Team Canada. In 2004, she earned the honour of competing for Canada at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Before hanging up her glove in exchange for a career in sports marketing, Auburn capped off her athletic career competing professionally in New York and Italy.

As Director, Brand & Strategy, Auburn works closely with several of TORQUE Strategies’ elite clients. She loves to flex her creative muscle to help build brand stories that tap into consumer ritual to leverage engagement and amplify affinity.

BEYOND THE BULLPEN

Auburn gives back to the game she loves as a Master Pitching Instructor for Softball Canada’s CanPitch Program.
